It has been a good week to be a Texas Longhorns fan. Saturday night’s joy after beating Texas A&M at Kyle Field is still buzzing. Not only did Texas get the ultimate ‘big brother’ moment in beating the Aggies, Texas advanced to the SEC Championship for a rematch with Georgia.
Even getting to the SEC title game in the first year in the conference is a historic achievement. The fact that Texas has made it before A&M, despite a 12-year Aggie head start, makes even more gratifying.
Winning in College Station Saturday night should guarantee a UT spot in the playoff, win or lose in Atlanta in five days. A Texas win over the Bulldogs should give Texas a No. 2 seed, or even the No. 1 seed if Oregon trips up in the Big Ten title game against Penn State.
The official rankings will be released later tonight.

TEAM football CFP rankings projection
It seems pretty clear what will happen tonight at least for the Longhorns. With last week’s No. 2 Ohio State losing to Michigan 13-10 coupled with UT’s 17-7 win over Texas A&M, Texas should move up from No. 3 into the second spot in the rankings.
