There’s less than two weeks until the start of the 2021 college football season.

For Texas, they’re beginning a new era under Steve Sarkisian. The pressure, standards, and expectations are always heightened when you’re the head football coach in Austin. Can the former Alabama offensive coordinator right the ship?

Sarkisian has formed an impressive staff of assistant coaches, and has an ample amount of talent on the roster to work with. It would be underwhelming for Texas to finish the season with less than nine wins.

However, many expect the Longhorns to compete for the Big 12 title right away.

In order to accomplish that feat, Texas can’t afford to begin the season on a bad note. The Sarkisian era will kick off on Sept. 4 against No. 24 Louisiana-Lafayette. Of the last five head coaches for Texas, only two have won their season opener (Mack Brown, Charlie Strong).
