The 2012 season is one the Saints likely want to forget as they were without their head coach Sean Payton for the entirety of the season as part of the punishment for the team’s bounty scandal. New Orleans failed to make the postseason for the first time since 2008. Had Payton been on the sideline that year, you’ve got to believe the Saints would’ve had a decent shot at playing in Super Bowl XLVII. Instead, they watched the Niners and Ravens square off on their field and deal with some electrical problems during the big game.
