Few in the business do it better than Phil Steele, which is what makes his annual pre-season All-American list a very important moment in the college football calendar.
And it also makes for an intriguing barometer for where teams stack up throughout the conference. Nine different Big Ten teams placed at least one player on Steele’s list. Four programs had multiple selections.
A total of 19 players from the Big Ten made Steele’s list. Underscoring the conference as one of the elite in college football, six players were first-team selections across the 30 available spots.
