How Jordan Spieth weirdly got disqualified from a pro-am tournament

A weird DQ for Jordan Spieth … in a pro-am.

I didn’t think it was possible for a player — particularly a pro who’s among the top golfers in the world — to get DQ’d from a pro-am.

But that’s exactly what reportedly happened to Jordan Spieth on Monday when he was disqualified from the 2022 JP McManus Pro-Am, which is being held on Monday and Tuesday in Ireland.

Per the Twitter account @SpiethLegion (and hat tip to Golfweek), apparently Spieth picked up a would-be putt that, of course, was a blatant rule violation.

What’s that you say? Ah yes, it’s a pro-am! But the twist is that in addition to a team format, there was also a solo competition format that he was a part of. So he kept on playing with the amateurs, but he’s out from the individual portion:

It happens, I guess!
