In 2003, the Carolina Panthers were 11-5. They opened the playoffs with a home win over Dallas before taking two road victories to earn a Super Bowl berth against the New England Patriots. The Panthers dropped that game, 32-29, under John Fox. The head coach remained in charge in 2004 and the Panthers fell to 7-9.
