How did Giants’ trainer save life of Logan Ryan’s wife?

A Giant trainer told Logan Ryan’s wife to go to the emergency room and it is a good thing she did.

Logan Ryan of the New York Giants and his wife had a huge scare following the team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday at MetLife Stadium.

The DB was being checked out by a trainer early Tuesday when Ashley said she was experiencing pains in her stomach.

Ashley Ryan thought she was just having a stomach ache and was planning on taking Tums and sleeping it off … but the Giants’ trainers felt the situation was more serious and urged her to head to the hospital. Ashley Ryan listened  and after undergoing tests at the ER learned she was pregnant — despite having a “fully functioning IUD.”

“I told her she wanted to sleep it off. She said she was in extreme pain but she would wait until the morning.” Logan Ryan said. “I talked to one of our trainers about the symptoms and he said, ‘No, she needs to go to the [emergency room].’ ”

Ashley Ryan went to the emergency room, where she was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. The condition is caused by a fertilized egg growing outside of a woman’s uterus and can lead to life-threatening bleeding.

“The egg was about to burst, so she ended up going to emergency surgery and they ended up saving her and preventing a lot of what could’ve been done,” Logan Ryan said. “A trainer on our team, Justin Maher, telling my wife to go to the ER at 1 a.m. could’ve saved her life — or saved a lot of internal bleeding there. That’s the type of organization we have here.

“They ended up saving her and ended up preventing a lot of what could’ve been done,” Logan Ryan said
