Ahmad Gardner is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft, a cornerback out of Cincinnati with the kind of athleticism and measureables NFL teams crave for their secondary.
He also comes along with an awesome nickname: Sauce.
So where did that come from? Let’s go all the way back to when he was a kid.
Per Cincinnati.com, Gardner said his youth football coach Curtez Harris said he “was saucy with the juke moves” when Gardner played running back.
Specifically: “He was first given the name when Harris complimented Gardner’s cutback moves during a youth sports game and called him ‘A1 Sauce Sweet Feet Gardner.'”
How good is that? I wish that was his nickname now, but the shortened “Sauce” is pretty great.
And now you know.
