The Houston Texans are going with a local product.

The Texans traded up from No. 73 overall in Round 3 to No. 69 overall after making a deal with the Los Angeles Rams. The Texans used that pick to take former Houston Cougars receiver Tank Dell.

The Texans had former general manager Nick Caserio and special teams coordinator on hand at Houston’s pro day to scout Dell.

Dell expressed interest in joining the Texans as far back as the NFL combine.

At 5-8, Dell is known for his speed, running a 4.49 at the combine. Dell does not believe his size would be a liability at the pro level.

“I have been playing football since I was five years old, and I always played against bigger dudes,” Dell said in early March. “Of course, I am going to have to adapt, but I am going to pick up where I left off from college. I feel like I can make plays against anybody, so I am going to be ready.”
