Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant turned in dozens of highlight-reel moments throughout his rookie campaign but perhaps no play was as electrifying as the moment when he posterized Phoenix Suns center Aron Baynes.
With less than 50 seconds left in a two-possession game back on Dec. 11, Morant found himself matched up in a 1-on-1 situation with Baynes. It is the situation all point guards dream of and one that Baynes likely immediately regretted once it happened.
Morant began to his right, then dribbled over to his left and went right at Baynes toward the rim. The end result wound up on countless loops on social media and is still often brought up to this day. So, in other words, it was the perfect dunk to put into trophy form.

House of Highlights managed to convert the poster dunk into a trophy and the media outlet presented its finished product to Morant as the “Moment of the Year” for the 2019-20 season.

Morant had thrown down several jams to that point of the season but hadn’t yet recorded his signature dunk — until then. Despite the level of difficulty in that dunk, Morant still didn’t name it his favorite play of the year. Instead, it was a game-winning layup against the Charlotte Hornets.
We will allow it…
