Former Arkansas running back Josh Oglesby, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, announced his destination on Tuesday.

Oglesby, who joined the football team in 2020 after specializing in the 60-meter dash on the track team, will play for Stephen F. Austin, an FCS school, next year.

The Lumberjacks, who play in Nacogdoches, Texas, went 8-4 this season, losing in the FCS Playoffs to Incarnate Word. Oglesby is from Katy, Texas, about a three-hour drive from Stephen F. Austin.

Oglesby had four carries for 19 yards this season, playing against both Texas and Georgia Southern. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said Oglesby’s situation is what the transfer portal is built for.

“A lot of times (when a player enters the portal) it doesn’t mean the head coach is mad,” Pittman said. “A lot of times it can be mutual and it can be to help this guy go play the game. It’s still a fun game. Go play it.”
