On this day in 2016, Klay Thompson drained an NBA playoff record of 11 3-pointers to lead the Golden State Warriors to a comeback win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.
Thompson finished with a playoff-career-high 41 points to lead the Warriors to the 108-101 victory and tied the series at 3. He hit five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Warriors erased a seven-point deficit.
The performance by Thompson single-handedly saved the Warriors’ season that year. The Warriors looked to be headed toward elimination in that contest, but Thompson went full video game mode to defeat the Thunder.

Of course, the Warriors beat the Thunder in Game 7 to advance to their second straight appearance in the NBA Finals. While the Warriors overcame a 3-1 series deficit to the Thunder, they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
However, we’re not here to dwell on the past. Instead, we’re honoring Thompson with one of the great playoff performances in NBA history when it mattered the most.
