Duncan Robinson tied a franchise record with seven made 3-pointers on Thursday lead the Miami Heat to a 109-100 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.
Robinson finished with 24 points while he missed just one of his eight attempts from 3-point range. Robinson made his first three attempts from beyond the arc to help the Heat jump out to an early 12-3 lead in the first quarter.
Goran Dragic, who is starting in place of Kendrick Nunn, added 20 points while Tyler Herro scored 15 points off of the bench. Herro accounted for three of the team’s 18 total triples in the contest while he added five rebounds and three assists to help the Heat to a 2-0 series lead.
For the second time this series, the Heat closed out the Pacers with a lineup consisting of Dragic, Herro, Jimmy Butler, Andre Iguodala and Bam Adebayo. The group has proven to be extremely effective at the end of each game in the series and will likely be a mainstay moving forward.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra commended the work put in by Herro on the defensive end of the floor, which is a big reason why he has trusted using the rookie in the playoffs. Herro was matched up with Victor Oladipo throughout the contest and held his own in most situations.
The Heat have proven to be dominant throughout the first two games of the series and their play could make for a quick series if the Pacers can’t close the gap in Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.
