Are you tired of 2021 National Football League draft projections yet? Of course not, we still have over two weeks to go before the draft begins and where any player lands is still well up in the air. However, one of the greater certainties as April 29 quickly approaches is former Florida tight end Kyle Pitts‘ status as a first-round selection.
Mind you, where and when the Mackey Award winner is taken is still anyone’s guess, but the overall consensus in the sports media has been that he will hear his name called before the double digits. According to NFL.com’s analyst Maurice Jones-Drew, Pitts should be the first non-quarterback off the board on draft day.
Pick 4 – Atlanta Falcons – Kyle Pitts
Matt Ryan is still playing at an above-average level, so why not give him another weapon to help the Falcons maximize the franchise QB’s final few years? Pitts then becomes the building block for the future.
The No. 4 pick has been Pitts’ ceiling among nearly every one of the mocks drafts and rightfully so — he is a generational talent with a skill set rarely seen and could have as much value if not more than a quarterback in the NFL. If he is taken in the top 10, Pitts would become just the second tight end to go in the top five in the common draft era after Riley Odoms in 1972.
