Here’s the plan for new Bills offensive lineman Connor McGovern

Here’s the plan for new #Bills offensive lineman Connor McGovern:

The Buffalo Bills made Connor McGovern their first signing of the free agency window for a reason. The team clearly felt an upgrade was needed along the offensive line.

That still didn’t answer every question.

Exactly where is McGovern going to fit on the O-line? On the surface, the position that comes to mind is guard.

Still, questions remain.

At tackle, Buffalo is set moving forward with Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown. Mitch Morse is slated to return at center.

At guard, a hole was left behind by Rodger Saffold who is a free agent. That leaves only Ryan Bates.

Bates and McGovern have two things in common. First, they were teammates at Penn State. But they also have versatility to play on both sides of the offensive line. So who would be where?

During his introductory press conference, McGovern revealed that the left side is where he will be. Bates, at least to start the 2023 offseason, will return to right guard where he played most of last season.

All in all, it’s a situation McGovern liked enough to sign on the dotted line. Naturally, more than that played into decision.
