Here’s a look at the SEC’s best receivers from each school and how they rank

This 3rd installment in our Gators Wire original series will attempt to rank the likely No. 1 wide receiver for every member school in fall.

No. 7 Trevon Grimes – Florida Gators (Senior – Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

A four-star recruit in the 2017 cycle, Grimes began his collegiate career in Columbus with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Catching three passes in two games as a freshman, he left then-head coach Urban Meyer’s program in October and ultimately transferred because of a reported incident with disgraced ex-wide receivers coach Zach Smith.

Returning to the Sunshine State, he received a hardship waiver from the NCAA, granting him immediate eligibility in 2018.

On the receiving end of Feleipe Franks’ passes, he finished as the Gators’ third-leading receiver as a sophomore, tallying 26 catches for 364 yards (14 avg) and two scores.

He took another slight step forward in 2019, registering 33 receptions, 491 yards (14.9 avg), and three touchdowns. With Florida having graduated Van Jefferson and Freddie Swain, the only two wideouts to record more yards than Grimes a year ago, there are plenty of reasons to believe his senior year will be his best.
