Here’s a look at the SEC’s best receivers from each school and how they rank

This 3rd installment in our Gators Wire original series will attempt to rank the likely No. 1 wide receiver for every member school in fall.

No. 11 Josh Palmer – Tennessee Volunteers (Senior – Brampton, Ontario, Canada)

While the team directly before Tennessee on this list returns plenty of wide receiver production, the Volunteers are in an opposite boat.

Fresh off their first bowl appearance since 2016, Jeremy Pruitt and his staff must replace Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings, two of the most accomplished pass-catchers in school history.

Serving as the No. 3 option a season ago, Palmer tallied 34 catches for 457 yards (13.4 avg) and a touchdown. Not necessarily numbers that jump off the page, but they represent continued progression in each of his three years on-campus.

Headed by Venice, Florida four-star Malachi Wideman, Tennessee added three wideouts in the 2020 class and dipped into the transfer market for ex-Nebraska Cornhusker Miles Jones, a redshirt sophomore who is still waiting to hear from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regarding his eligibility this fall, and USC Trojan graduate Velus Jones, Jr.

These newcomers will help fill the void left by Callaway and Jennings, but Palmer, who played his high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, has the leg up because of his familiarity with redshirt senior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano.
