Here’s a look at the SEC’s best receivers from each school and how they rank

This 3rd installment in our Gators Wire original series will attempt to rank the likely No. 1 wide receiver for every member school in fall.

No. 5 George Pickens – Georgia Bulldogs (Sophomore – Hoover, Alabama)

A five-star prospect and the top player in Alabama in the 2019 class, per the 247Sports Composite, Pickens initially committed to Auburn before flipping to Georgia on Signing Day.

Although the Bulldogs struggled throwing the football last season, ranking 76th in America at 217.7 yards per game, Pickens enjoyed a strong freshman campaign, catching 49 passes for 727 yards (14.8 avg) and eight scores.

Lawrence Cager, who graduate transferred to Georgia prior to the 2019 season, was the program’s second-leading pass-catcher with 476 yards. Now a member of the New York Jets, Cager’s departure figures to present Pickens and redshirt senior Demetrius Robertson, the No. 1 receiver in the 2016 cycle, with more opportunities to catch passes from J.T. Daniels and/or Jamie Newman this fall.

Competing to replace three-year starter Jake Fromm, now with the Buffalo Bills, Daniels transferred to Athens from USC in May and received a waiver for immediate eligibility on July 13. Newman, a Wake Forest graduate, picked Georgia for his final year of college football in January.
