The Gators’ offense was a bulldozer in 2020, forcing their way downfield in an unstoppable wave that was irrevocably destined for the end zone. NFL teams noticed. Florida is starting nearly from scratch with their offense in 2021 and a number of starting jobs are totally up for grabs.
Head coach Dan Mullen was not unprepared for this eventuality. Emory Jones is the presumptive heir to Kyle Trask‘s spot as the starting quarterback. Five-star transfer Demarcus Bowman brings an additional dimension to the Florida run game that was mostly left in the wake of the passing offense in 2020. However, without much veteran experience or certainty on the team, more could be done to buttress the depth chart.
Mullen has never shied away from recruiting guys from the transfer portal. He’s certainly been active in the regard so far this offseason, already having brought in Antonio Shelton and DaQuan Newkirk to replace the departing duo of defensive tackles. Don’t be surprised if he does the same to bolster the offense. If he does turn to the transfer market, here are three players who could pique his interest.
