Here are Samaje Perine’s contract details with the Broncos

Broncos RB Samaje Perine will have a salary cap hit of $3 million this season.

The Denver Broncos agreed to terms on a two-year, $7.5 million contract with running back Samaje Perine on Tuesday evening.

Now, thanks to various reports, we know the details of the contract. This season, Perine will have a low base salary of $1.5 million. The running back’s $3 million signing bonus will be prorated as $1.5 million salary cap hits of the next two seasons, giving him a total cap hit of $3 million in 2023.

After this season, the Broncos will have the choice to pick up or opt out of the final year of Perine’s contract in 2024. If they opt out, Denver will take on $1.5 million in “dead money” and not owe the remaining $3 million in 2024.

If the Broncos do pick up the second year of Perine’s contract, he will have a base salary of $2.83 million, a roster bonus of $170,000 and a total cap hit of $4.5 million in 2024.

For a reliable backup running back who excels in pass blocking and makes plays as a receiver out of the backfield, it’s not a bad deal for Denver. Perine should be a good addition to the Broncos’ backfield this season.
