Heat rookie Tyler Herro will not play Saturday night vs. Cavaliers

Herro will miss his seventh straight game due to a lingering ankle injury suffered on Feb. 3 against the 76ers.

Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro will not play Saturday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a lingering ankle injury, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

The 13th overall pick has missed the past six games for the Heat after suffering a foot injury on Feb. 3. The injury prevented Herro from playing in the NBA Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend though he still attended the event in Chicago.

Herro offered a positive update on the injury during his NBA Rising Stars media availability after he indicated he could return to play soon. The injury was initially thought to keep him out until the playoffs but further evaluation showed it is not that serious.

Prior to suffering the injury, Herro had missed just three games, two due to a knee injury and one for a sprained ankle. In 46 games played, Herro is averaging 13.1 points, four rebounds and two assists this season.

The Heat plan to honor Dwyane Wade on Saturday night by retiring his No. 3 jersey number in a ceremony to be held at AmericanAirlines Arena. The celebration is part of a three-day series of tributes.
