Where Cooper DeJean goes in the first round is becoming a much bigger question than if he does at all. All signs are trending to the Iowa Hawkeyes cornerback and return man being off the board in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.
DeJean, one of the nation’s premier cornerbacks, is consistently among the top three cornerbacks in this year’s draft class and at times, the top-rated cornerback of the bunch.
In CBS Sports’ newest 2024 NFL mock draft, DeJean is headed to a new home he has not previously been linked to. They are sending Cooper DeJean out west to the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 27 pick in the first round as an immediate impact player in their rebuild.
Arizona first selected stellar wide receiver talent Marvin Harrison Jr. and now give him some practice competition with Cooper DeJean. Arizona is one of two teams with two first-round selections (Chicago being the other). – Josh Edwards, CBS Sports
They say that iron sharpens iron and that would be the case here. This mock draft sees Marvin Harrison Jr., the Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver, going to the Cardinals with the No. 4 overall pick. The two only saw each other once in college during the 2022 season but would have many more encounters at practice going one-on-one.
DeJean would be joining a Cardinals team in the midst of a rebuild but has some key pieces. Safety Budda Baker is extremely versatile and would pair together nicely with DeJean’s ability to play outside corner, in the slot, or float back to safety.
