Harrison Ingram named to 2024 Julius Erving Award Watch List

UNC Basketball forward Harrison Ingram was named to the 2024 Julius Erving Award Preseason Watch List.

As part of North Carolina’s new-look roster for the 2023-24 college basketball season, they will welcome in several players from the transfer portal. That includes a former recruiting target in Harrison Ingram.

After two seasons at Stanford, Ingram made the decision to enter the transfer portal and ended up in Chapel Hill after all. Now, Ingram enters this season with a spot in the starting lineup on the wing and is expected to contribute right away.

On Wednesday, Ingram earned some national recognition as he was one of 20 players named to the Julius Erving preseason Award Watch List for the upcoming season.

The forward was the latest Tar Heel player to be named to a preseason watch list, joining R.J. Davis earlier in the week.

The 20-player watch list recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men’s college basketball. To come up with the 20, a national committee of top college basketball personnel determines the preseason watch list. They released this statement as well:

“As the 2023-24 season approaches, we are excited to watch the small forwards on the 2024 Julius Erving Award Watch List take the court and prove why we have selected them as the Top 20 to watch this season,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. “We are honored to have the great ‘Dr. J’ assist our selection committee as they evaluate these student-athletes throughout the season.”

Ingram is coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 10.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for his efforts in his first season.
