Defensive backs: B-
There were moments when the defensive backs made some great plays in coverage and times where they looked lost. They didn’t get torched for 350 yards but it’s possible guys may have gotten a bit confused or just didn’t trust their technique. Two of the game’s most notable plays (if not, the most notable) came from defensive backs.
Senior safety Pat Fields caught a blocked extra point and returned it to the house for 2 points. Cornerback D.J. Graham submitted his claim for college play of the year with an absurd (understatement) one-handed interception in the end zone. The loss of Billy Bowman didn’t hurt too much as the nickel back Jeremiah Criddell and Justin Broiles held firm there.
