Hamidou Diallo exits Lakers game early after injuring right elbow

After a collision with LeBron James, Hamidou Diallo exited Friday night’s contest against the Lakers early. Hopefully, the injury isn’t too serious.

On Friday night, the Thunder gave LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers all they could handle, and although they lost the contest, the biggest loss of the evening may have been that of Hamidou Diallo.

With about 9:30 remaining in the game’s fourth quarter, Diallo was involved in a collision with James. As James attempted to drive to the basket, he appeared to extend his arm and push the third-year swingman to the floor. Diallo was in immediate and obvious pain.

After writhing in pain, Diallo jumped up and sprinted to the locker room while holding his right elbow. He would not return to the contest and as of the ending of the 130-127 loss, the team hadn’t updated his status.

Below is a clip of the play in which Diallo sustained the injury.

To make matters even worse for Billy Donovan’s team, it was the right elbow that Diallo was favoring—he underwent arthroscopic surgery on it back in April, and it caused him to be sidelined for approximately four weeks.

Hopefully, for the Thunder, the injury isn’t serious, but it’s obviously disconcerting considering the fact that the neophyte just had a procedure on the arm a few months ago.

In all likelihood, his status will be updated in short order. The Thunder will have the weekend off before squaring off with the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
