Haason Reddick, Zane Gonzalez get revenge in Panthers’ 34-10 win

Reddick and Gonzalez were let go this offseason. They played a major part in the Panthers’ 34-10 win over the Cardinals in week 10.

The Carolina Panthers came into State Farm Stadium with three former Arizona Cardinals players. Linebacker Haason Reddick and kicker Zane Gonzalez, who played for them last season and were, in a way, discarded.

They both got their revenge Sunday afternoon with a 34-10 win over the Cardinals. Not only did they get the victory, but they each were also protagonists in the win.

Reddick got things going early. It was his strip-sack that set up the Panthers’ first touchdown. He finished with 1.5 sacks, three QB hits, four tackles and the forced fumble.

Gonzalez made all four of his field-goal attempts, including three from beyond 40 yards.

Reddick, of course, was a former first-round draft pick of the Cardinals who struggled for three seasons, mostly playing as an off-the-ball linebacker. Once he was moved to the edge, despite being undersized, he thrived.

He led the Cardinals with 12.5 sacks in 2020 but the Cardinals did not re-sign him. He now has 10 sacks through 10 games with the Panthers.

After the game, he said we will all have to call this game “Reddick’s revenge.”

Gonzalez was scheduled to be a free agent but was released by the Cardinals a few days before his contract expired.

His missed kicks from between 40-49 yards last season basically cost them a playoff berth.

He missed a league-high eight field goals from 40-49 between 2019-2020. He is 9-for-9 from that distance this season and hit all three such attempts Sunday afternoon.

The win was sweet for the Panthers, who knocked off the NFC’s No. 1 seed. However, it was probably a little sweeter for Reddick and Gonzalez.
