GTA 6 will ‘set creative benchmarks’ for entertainment, according to Take-Two

Rockstar is working diligently on the next Grand Theft Auto, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick claims work is ‘well underway’ already.

We probably won’t see GTA 6 in any meaningful form for years, yet everyone is still talking about it daily — including Take-Two, the publisher behind Grand Theft Auto.

During Take-Two’s latest financial update with investors on Monday, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick gave a brief development update (Thanks, PC Gamer).

“With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment,” Zelnick said. “Just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases.”

It’s a bold claim, though not one that is unjustified. In the same report, Zelnick announced that GTA 5 has nearly shipped 170 million units worldwide. There was another bump in sales thanks to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports from earlier this year. As if you needed another reminder that this game was popular!

In February of 2022, Take-Two stated that GTA 6 development was moving forward at Rockstar. Several months later, reports claimed the long-awaited sequel might have a female protagonist, which upset some fans for groan-worthy reasons

Perhaps someday, hopefully before another comet hits the earth, we might see GTA 6 take shape.
