Gregg Popovich praises Chris Paul after Spurs’ loss to Warriors

Head coach Gregg Popovich showed love to Chris Paul after the San Antonio Spurs’ loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The San Antonio Spurs took on the Golden State Warriors for the second game in a row on Monday night. They managed to earn a short-handed win over the Stephen Curry-less Warriors in their first meeting, but things went a bit differently the second time around. Despite getting Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell back into the fold for Monday, the Spurs couldn’t earn a second win in a row.

In Curry’s absence, a myriad of Warriors players stepped up. Among them was veteran point guard Chris Paul, who looked like a younger version of himself on Monday night in the Warriors win.

“He’s one of the all-time best competitors in the league,” Popovich said. “He’s a great leader, great competitor. It’s always fun to see him. I just hope he stays healthy for the whole year because he’s really important to those guys. He’s up there. One of the best.”

Paul finished the night with 10 points, four rebounds, nine assists, and three steals on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and 2-of-3 shooting from distance.
