ORLANDO — The Boston Celtics have eliminated the defending NBA champions from the 2020 playoffs.
The Celtics, the Eastern Conference’s third-seed knocked off the No. 2 Toronto Raptors, 92-87, Friday night and dispatched the Raptors by capturing the Best-of-7 series 4-3 at AdventHealth Arena in the Central Florida bubble.
Former University of Tennessee basketball star Grant Williams had two rebounds in the contest for Boston while playing seven minutes.
Williams left Knoxville after his junior season in 2019 as the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.
The power forward was drafted in the first round by the Celtics in 2019.
Next up for Boston is a showdown with Miami in the Eastern Conference Finals.
