Overall: C+
Like past matchups against Nebraska, the Badgers were able to run the football effectively against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers had no answer for Taylor as he was able to consistently pick up positive yards helping the Badgers control the clock as Wisconsin held the football for 34:40 of game time.
Thanks to Wisconsin’s ability to rush the football allowed for Wisconsin to consistently move the football down the field as the passing game struggled at times.
Although Wisconsin’s defense gave up big plays and allowed Nebraska to average 8.2 yards per play Wisconsin’s defense never folded. The Badgers kept playing and made sure that Nebraska couldn’t extend drives when facing a fourth down as the Cornhuskers went 0-for-3 on their fourth down attempts.
On Nebraska’s three offensive touchdown drives it didn’t take long for the Cornhuskers to move the football against Wisconsin’s defense. Two of the three offensive drives were five plays the other one lasted four offensive plays and all three drives lasted one minute and 48 seconds or less.
Wisconsin certainly has things to clean up from this game both offensively and defensively as the 493 yards Nebraska gained was the most allowed by Wisconsin’s defense this year. But the Badgers ability to keep playing and making sure Nebraska couldn’t cut Wisconsin’s lead below 10 was critical to making sure Nebraska never gained momentum back after Wisconsin took the lead for good.
