We’re used to seeing some of the top pass-catchers in the country come out of Tuscaloosa, and the 2022 NFL draft class will have yet another in John Metchie III.
The latest in a long line of blue-chip wide receiver prospects to come out of Alabama, Metchie has been a big-play machine for the Crimson Tide since the moment he arrived on campus.
Metchie is especially skilled at turning short catches into long gains, thanks in large part to his ability to break tackles. So far this season, Metchie has forced 14 missed tackles after the catch, which is tied for the most in the nation (per Pro Football Focus).
This year’s wide receiver class is loaded with potential first-round talents, and Metchie can make as strong a case as any to be among the first 32 selections once next April rolls around.
