Golden Knights defeat Tennessee again

TAMPA — For the second time in less than 24 hours, the University of Tennessee softball team has been run-ruled by an unranked University of Central Florida team.

The Lady Vols (7-4) closed out the first day of the Tampa Tournament with a 10-1 loss to the Golden Knights Friday.

When the 12th-ranked Lady Vols took the diamond early Saturday morning against UCF (11-2), the result was much the same as Tennessee came up on the short end of a 9-1 decision.

On Saturday, the Lady Vols managed to get just one hit. Tennessee also played some shaky defense on Saturday morning as it committed four errors in the game that ended after five innings.

The Lady Vols got their only run and hit from shortstop Josie Willingham, who homered in the bottom of the third inning.

Willingham’s dinger pulled Tennessee to  within 9-1.
