For the first time in a few years, Notre Dame football will not go into the transfer portal for a new starting quarterback.
Head coach Marcus Freeman still can’t quite look ahead to the 2025 season, as the Irish still have the biggest game of the year in front of them in less than a week, the College Football Playoff Championship game against Ohio State.
That still won’t stop many from looking ahead to next fall, as quarterback coach [autotag]Gino Guidugli[/autotag] was recently asked about the impending battle for the starting position. First mentioned was Kenny Minchey, which isn’t who many would have thought, then Steve Angeli, CJ Carr, and Blake Hebert.
Guidugli believes that it is going to be “interesting to watch unfold” as each of them will compete for the starting position. While many think it is going to be Carr getting the snaps in 2025, it’s just hard for me to believe that the coach staff will have him out there over a somewhat more seasoned Angeli.
Expect a hard fought battle, that could boil over into the season.
