Gimme Him: One player Colts would steal from Jaguars

In this hypothetical scenario, the player to steal from the Jaguars would boost the Colts offense immensely.

The Indianapolis Colts host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday as the team plays their 2023 season opener and home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.

In a hypothetical scenario, the Colts Wire staff can “steal” one player that sheds light on depth needs or talent upgrades for the Colts.

This week’s selection: wide receiver Calvin Ridley.

The Colts currently sit with just four wide receivers on the active roster, and while this is likely to change as the roster shifts, this is unfamiliar territory for the team. Having a fifth receiver on the roster who adds game-wrecking abilities to the team’s arsenal couldn’t hurt.

That’s where Ridley comes in.

At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Ridley fits the profile for wide receivers that general manager Chris Ballard would sign or draft. Also, Ridley is the epitome of an athlete with 4.4. speed and expansive route tree to match.

Before his broken foot in 2021 and his suspension for gambling in 2022, Ridley had a stellar season in 2020. The former Atlanta Falcon had 90 receptions for 1,374 yards (ranked sixth in the league) and nine touchdowns. He also averaged an excellent 15.3 yards per reception.

Adding Ridley to the roster would elevate the wide receiver room and force opposing defenses to “pick their poison” on who to cover.

Other players considered included tight end Evan Engram, right guard Brandon Scherff, and edge rusher Josh Allen.

Do you agree, Colts fans? Would you pick Ridley or steal an entirely different Jacksonville Jaguars player?
