The New York Giants were completely non-competitive on Sunday in Arlington, falling to the Dallas Cowboys, 49-17, in a game that could have looked even uglier had Mike McCarthy not pulled his starters.
With the loss, the Giants fall to 2-8 on the season and 1-5 on the road. It would be a surprise if they won even a single game over the final half of the season as tank mode, albeit unintentional, has already reached full throttle.
When all is said and done, this might be the worst Giants team in franchise history.
Here are the snap counts that contributed to the Giants’ most recent beating.
Offensive snaps: 63
Defensive snaps: 60
Special teams snaps: 24
The Giants managed a full slate of snaps from just three of their offensive linemen as injuries continue to pile up. Meanwhile, the rotation at wide receiver is going strong but that did result in a few extra snaps for Sterling Shepard this week.
In his 11 snaps, Shepard once again demonstrated that he’s the best route-running receiver on the active roster and is being criminally underused.
Defensively, linebacker Isaiah Simmons has seen his role all but vanish. Thank goodness the Giants traded a much-needed draft pick for him.
