Giants will wear legacy uniforms vs. Washington, Green Bay

The New York Giants will wear their classic legacy uniforms against the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers in 2023.

The New York Giants will see the return of their legacy uniforms in 2023 — their classic blue attire from the 1980s and 1990s with the infamous “GIANTS” helmet.

“This era obviously still holds a special place in the hearts of Giants fans,” co-owner John Mara said last year. “Our teams during that time featured legendary players, some of the best in our franchise’s history. And these uniforms remind us of what was accomplished through those years. We are thrilled to wear that uniform again.”

“This uniform represents a significant part of Giants history, and we have often been asked by our fans if we would ever wear it again,” chief commercial officer Pete Guelli added at the time. “We started the uniform process with the NFL two years ago, and we’re excited to see it come to life for two games this season. These Legacy Games will connect generations of Giants fans.”

The team announced on Wednesday evening that they will be worn twice throughout the regular season, once against the Washington Commanders and then against the Green Bay Packers.

The Commanders matchup comes on Sunday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m. ET and the Green Bay game is scheduled for Monday, December 11 at 8:15 p.m. ET.

In addition to the classic uniforms, the Giants will again transform MetLife Stadium into Giants Stadium during those games with throwback banners, branding, colors, and endzones.

More specific details will be announced at a later date.

The Giants wore their legacy uniforms twice in 2022 — a Week 4 win over the Chicago Bears and a Week 13 tie against the Commanders.
