Giants waive kicker Cade York

The New York Giants have waived kicker Cade York, who was inactive for all three games he was on the active roster.

On Wednesday, the New York Giants finally ended their rather odd kicking saga by waiving Cade York.

York was signed off of the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad at the time Graham Gano was placed on injured reserve (IR) but was inactive for all three games with the team.

Instead of York, the Giants elevated veteran kicker Randy Bullock from their practice squad in all three games, essentially wasting two gameday roster spots on kickers.

With no activations remaining this season, Bullock will likely be signed from the practice squad to the active roster. And assuming York clears waivers, he is expected to land back on the reserve unit.

York was a fourth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 NFL draft. He was waived as a part of final cuts this past offseason and promptly signed to the Titans’ practice squad.

In 17 games as a rookie, York connected on 24 of his 32 field goal attempts (75%) and 35 of his 37 point-after attempts (94.6%). 50 of his 81 kickoffs (61.7%) went for touchbacks.
