The New York Giants found another way to blow a lead and lose a close game, which was the case on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants dropped to 1-7 on the season after falling, 25-23, to the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers, who continue to look like a strong contender in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Giants are headed for a top pick in the draft again.
Despite being in the game against Tampa Bay, the Giants are what their record says, and they are 1-7 and in the basement of the NFC East.
While there were a lot of inconsistencies, the one consistent for the Giants has been the outstanding play of middle linebacker Blake Martinez, who continues to be a tackling machine.
Martinez had nine tackles, six solo and one tackle for a loss. Only safety Jabrill Peppers had more tackles with 10.
Martinez has 82 total tackles now through eight games and is well on his way to having over 100 tackles for the season. The Giants’ defense has been feisty all season and Martinez has been a big part of that.
