Giants vs. Bears Player of the Game: James Bradberry

The New York Giants lost to the Chicago Bears in Week 2, but CB James Bradberry did enough to earn our Player of the Game.

The New York Giants came so close to getting the win on Sunday and nearly pulled one out at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears. But the Bears were able to hold off a late comeback by the Giants as Big Blue fell to 0-2 in a 17-13 loss on Sunday.

The massive cause for concern is the potential loss of Saquon Barkley for the entire 2020 season, as he may have suffered a torn ACL in the game.

But there were some positives in the game and had Daniel Jones put the ball in the end zone to win at the end, the narrative surrounding this game is much different.

On the defensive side of things, James Bradberry continues to shine in the secondary and look like that legitimate No. 1 cornerback that the Giants hoped for when they gave him a three-year, $43.5 million deal in the offseason.

Bradberry had four total tackles for the game with four passes defensed. But Bradberry’s biggest play in the game came early in the fourth quarter when he wrestled the ball away from Allen Robinson for a huge interception.

The play lead to a Giants field goal by Graham Gano and cut the lead at the time to 17-13, which ended up being the final score of the game.

With the secondary having losses before the season — DeAndre Baker being released, Sam Beal opting out and Xavier McKinney on injured reserve — the strong play of Bradberry early on has been a major plus for the defense.
