Giants to give season-ticket holders chance to display names in stadium

The Giants will not be permitted to have fans at games until further notice.

There will be no fans in attendance if and when the New York Giants play their home games at MetLife Stadium this year until further notice.

In lieu of that, the team plans on acknowledging their loyal but absent fan base by giving season-ticket holders the option of having their names displayed in the stadium.

On July 20, the Giants, along with their MetLife co-tenants, the Jets, announced they will be playing their home games in an empty stadium due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

“Today Governor Murphy announced that, due to the ongoing public health crisis, his Executive Order limiting outdoor public gatherings will apply to events at MetLife Stadium until further notice,” read a joint statement released by both teams. “This decision was reached after careful consideration of the current state of the COVID-19 crisis, in discussions with the Giants and Jets, and in consideration of the health and safety of our fans, players and staff, which will continue to be the primary focus for our teams. We support Governor Murphy’s decision in the interest of public health and safety and, until circumstances change, both the Giants and Jets will play our games without the benefit of fans in attendance. Although we would prefer to have fans at MetLife Stadium for our games, we will continue to work with Governor Murphy’s office and will provide updates if necessary.”

With New Jersey going through a summer surge of the virus and New York now running checkpoints and roadblocks to monitor and/or trace visitors from 34 states where the virus is thriving, you can count on Murphy’s order to be carried out throughout the 2020 season.

In addition, the Giants have not released any details or renderings in regards to what this display will look like nor how it will be presented.
