Giants’ Sterling Shepard: Wan’Dale Robinson ‘well beyond his years’

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard is impressed with rookie WR Wan’Dale Robinson, saying he is “well beyond his years.”

When the New York Giants selected Wan’Dale Robinson back in April, he was supposed to come in and add depth to a wide receiver core that included Kenny Golladay, 2021 first-round pick Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shepard.

Injuries have depleted that group significantly. Toney (prior to being traded), Golladay, Shepard and Robinson have all have missed time because of the injuries.

Shepard was, of course, lost for the year back in Week 3 after suffering a torn ACL.

Since then, the Giants have been pretty thin at wide receiver. However, following his return from injury in the last three weeks, Robinson has been a pretty solid weapon for the Giants and someone to get excited about for the future.

Following Shepard’s injury, the longest-tenured Giant has turned into Big Blue’s biggest cheerleader from the sidelines. It appears Shepard is a big believer in Robinson and thinks the rookie is well ahead of the usual NFL timeline for players.

“That’s not too much I need to tell him.” Shepard said, via the Athletic. “He’s well beyond his years, man. He’s going to be great for us.”

Robinson has stepped up to fit nicely in the slot and he may be the Giants’ long-term solution at the position if Shepard has played his last game in a Big Blue uniform.

As the Giants come off the bye and head into the second half of their season, Robinson’s role is likely to increase as the team continues to search for a spark in the passing game.

Even if Golladay is able to return soon, the Giants are likely to feature Robinson plenty as he’s showcased a trustworthy set of hands for Daniel Jones during his young career.
