New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard hobbled off the field with an apparent foot injury and was brought into the locker room at the end of the second quarter.
With 14 seconds remaining in the first half, Shepard caught a Daniel Jones pass at the Giants’ 49 yard-line for a 24 yard gain. He was corralled in by Bears defensive back Jaylon Johnson and twisted his left foot into the turf in the process.
This, in addition to the knee injury to running back Saquon Barkley, severely cuts into the Giants’ firepower on offense. Golden Tate retuned for the game after missing last week’s game, so it appeared as if Jones would finally operate with his full complement of weapons for once.
It didn’t last long.
The Giants announced Shepard had suffered a toe injury and was questionable to return.
Update: Shepard returned for one play before once again leaving the field.
