The 2020 NFL Draft is just over two weeks away and mock drafts are reaching fever pitch. NFL insiders and draft experts are finalizing their boards and releasing some of their final mocks of the year.
Although it’s not likely his last, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah released version 3.0 of his mock draft on Wednesday, where he has the New York Giants going with Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs at No. 4 overall.
The Giants have needs all over their defense, but I still believe protecting Daniel Jones is the top priority.
As we inch closer to draft time, the consensus seems to be that the Giants will remain in place and rather than grabbing a defensive stud, will go with their primary need and take a tackle.
Which of the four top tackles has the highest upside remains up for heavy debate, but the Giants can’t really miss with any of them.
As a quick reminder, here’s what Draft Wire had to say about Wirfs:
Wirfs has all of the tools to be a high-end starting offensive lineman for years to come. From his brute strength to his impressive athleticism to his nonstop motor once engaged with a defender, his skill set has much to be excited about. Regardless of whether teams plan on playing him at tackle or guard, he should be an early pick in this year’s class.
