Peter Schrager, the long-time FOX Sports reporter who also serves as a co-host of the popular Good Morning Football on the NFL Network, has chimed in with his first pass at a mock draft.
Schrager, like most draftniks, has Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence going first overall to Jacksonville followed by the Jets taking BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the second pick.
At No. 3, Schrager predicts the 49ers will take Alabama quarterback Mac Jones before New England trades up to No. 4 to select Justin Fields, the Ohio State quarterback.
The rest of the top 10 is as follows:
- No. 5: LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati
- No. 6: Northwestern offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, Miami
- No. 7: Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, Arizona (via trade)
- No. 8: Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell, Carolina
- No. 9: NDSU quarterback Trey Lance, Denver
- No. 10: Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II, Dallas
Then come the Giants…
No. 11: Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, New York Giants
The Giants have been aggressive and proactive in free agency, but they still have holes to fill. As much as giving Daniel Jones another weapon is a priority, Parsons fits what they need on defense and could be an immediate standout in both pass and run defense.
This pick makes sense to me. With Chase, Pitts and Slater off the board, Parsons is too good to pass up here. If the scouting reports are correct, Parsons can play any linebacker spot the Giants need him to, but preferably, he’d be paired with Blake Martinez in the middle of the field.
