After trading up and selecting cornerback Deonte Banks in the first round (24th overall), the New York Giants began their preparations for their Day 2 selections of the 2023 NFL draft.
The Giants were set to pick 57th and 89th overall on Friday with plenty of positions to improve with those selections.
Unlike in the first round, the Giants stayed at 57 and selected center John Michael Schmitz out of the University of Minnesota.
Schmitz fills an immediate need as the Giants continue to improve their offensive line. Many mocks had the Giants selecting JMS, who was believed to be the top center in the draft, at 25th overall.
