The New York Giants bounced back from an ugly primetime loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to upset the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12. It was an essential must-win for the Giants and although it was ugly, they got the job done.

With the win, the Giants improved to 4-7 on the season and remain in the outside hunt for an NFC wildcard spot. However, it’s quite the logjam and will require them to do a lot more winning down the stretch.

The good news? At least the Giants appear to be heading in the right direction. That’s especially true in the latest edition of the USA TODAY power rankings, where Big Blue saw a modest one-spot climb.

26. Giants (27): After all the criticism of deposed OC Jason Garrett not maximizing his weapons, New York’s only TD Sunday was scored by … Chris Myarick? Whatever – it worked.

Comparatively, the Eagles dropped three spots to No. 21 overall following their loss to the Giants. They are one spot ahead of New York’s next opponent, the 5-7 Miami Dolphins.

Meanwhile, the Washington Football Team rose four spots to No. 19 overall after taking down the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. The Dallas Cowboys fell two spots to No. 7 overall following their second consecutive loss.

Finally, the Green Bay Packers now reside at No. 1 overall.
