The New York Giants were record-breakers in Week 16, shattering offensive marks left and right courtesy of all-time performances by rookie quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley.
With 279 yards from scrimmage, Barkley surpassed Tiki Barber (276) for the highest total in Giants history and became just fifth player with at least 275 scrimmage yards and both a rushing and receiving touchdown in a single game since 1970.
There were several other noteworthy marks Barkley reached on Sunday, but we’ve gone over those and at this point, you get it. Pro Football Focus does, too, which is why they named him to their Team of Week 16.
RB SAQUON BARKLEY, NEW YORK GIANTS
This was the big-play, mismatch game the Giants envisioned when Barkley was drafted at No. 2 overall in 2018. He rushed for 189 yards on 22 carries, creating 153 of those yards after contact while also catching all four of his targets for 90 yards and a score. Barkley forced six missed tackles on his 26 touches on the day.
Despite his half of the record-breaking performance, Jones did not make the PFF Team of Week 16. Instead, Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill (17/27 for 272 yards and 3 TDs in a loss) got the nod over DJ, who was also given a lower overall grade than his three-interception performance against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13.
