Giants’ Saquon Barkley making ‘tangible progress’ in rehab

New York Giants coach Joe Judge says Saquon Barkley (knee) is making tangible progress in his recovery but still offers no return timetable.

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge said on Monday morning that star running back Saquon Barkley was ‘making strides’ in his rehabilitation from season-ending knee surgery last fall.

Barkley tore his ACL in the Giants’ Week 2 loss to the Bears in Chicago and missed the final 14 games of the year. His surgery was reportedly successful and his rehab is said to be on schedule. That, however, may still keep him from playing until after the season begins. He is currently on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list and is working out on the side.

In the interim, the Giants have been methodically bolstering their backfield, drafting Gary Brightwell and adding free agents Devontae Booker, Corey Clement and most recently, re-signing Alfred Morris.

Judge stated that the addition of Morris was in no way a statement on Barkley’s progress. He added that he loves the way Morris competes, and that is why he was re-signed.
