New York Giants rookie defensive lineman D.J. Davidson, who was selected in the fifth-round of the 2022 NFL draft, had to be carted off the field this past Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Judging by the reaction of his teammates, the injury appeared severe. However, initial reports were that Davidson had only suffered a sprained MCL and would return at some point this season.
Unfortunately, that is not the case.
On Tuesday, the Giants announced that Davidson suffered a torn ACL and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Davidson is the third Giants rookie to suffer a torn ACL this year, joining linebacker Darrian Beavers and offensive lineman Marcus McKethan.
Davidson appeared in all five games this season, taking snaps on both defensive and special teams. He recorded four tackles (two solo).
The Giants have not yet made a roster move to replace Davidson on the 53-man roster.
