Giants place Kadarius Toney on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The New York Giants have placed rookie WR Kadarius Toney on the Reserve/COVID-19 list following a positive test.

The inauspicious start to Kadarius Toney’s NFL career continued on Thursday as the New York Giants placed the first-round pick on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Toney reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 prior to landing on the list, so it’s not a close contact situation. The good news is that he’s not feeling sick or experiencing any sort of symptoms.

“He’s fine. He’s in good spirits,” a source told Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media.

Toney appeared to reiterate that with a late-night tweet of his own expressing some optimism.

In accordance with league protocols, Toney is now isolating and attending team meetings remotely. He will remain on the Reserve/COVID-19 list until he tests negative back-to-back, which means he’ll likely miss the start of training camp.

The positive COVID-19 test is just the latest setback for Toney. During rookie minicamp, he dealt with a footwear issue and suffered a minor injury. He later held out of OTAs because his contract had not been signed and then missed some time due to a family emergency.

Despite the football issues, Toney has had time to record and release his latest rap video.
